Which camshaft and valve springs should I run on my G16E-GTS?Updated 18 minutes ago
The most important rule: the camshaft must match your lifters. Cams for hydraulic lash adjusters don't have the lash ramp solid lifters need, and running the wrong combination can cause valvetrain failure.
These Kelford Cams camshafts are matched to our G16E-GTS kits. To order, email [email protected].
| Camshaft | Lifters | Suits |
|---|---|---|
| Kelford Stage 1 (267-A) | Hydraulic lash adjusters | 48 to 54 mm turbo, 350 to 500 hp, up to 8,000 rpm and 30 psi |
| Kelford Stage 1 Solid (S267-A) | Denstoj solid lifters | 48 to 54 mm turbo, 350 to 500 hp, up to 8,000 rpm and 30 psi |
| Kelford Stage 2 Solid (S267-B) | Denstoj solid lifters | 54 to 64 mm turbo, 500 to 700 hp, great with E85 |
The "S" at the start of a Kelford part number means the cam is designed for solid lifters.
Valve springs
All three cams need an upgraded valve spring. The Kelford KVS264 kit is a beehive spring set with titanium retainers, designed for the G16E-GTS:
- Intake: 100 lb seat pressure at 35.0 mm installed height, 198 lb at 12.0 mm lift
- Exhaust: 87 lb seat pressure at 36.7 mm installed height, 178 lb at 11.5 mm lift
- Coil bind height: 22.0 mm
- Remove the factory spring base and fit the supplied base
Keeping the factory cams?
If the car is otherwise stock, keep the original valve springs rather than adding load to the valvetrain. Our Hydraulic Lash Adjusters with Rocker Retainers are a drop-in fit with the factory cams and springs, and with milder cams like the Kelford EZ-TYPE or Type 1.
