G16E-GTS: hydraulic lash adjusters or solid lifters?Updated 18 minutes ago

Both of our G16E-GTS kits (GR Yaris and GR Corolla) include Rocker Retainer clips. The difference is the lifter.

Hydraulic Lash Adjusters with Rocker Retainers

Best for: stock or mildly tuned engines, daily drivers, and cams designed for hydraulic lifters (for example Kelford EZ-TYPE, Type 1 and Stage 1).

  • A drop-in replacement for the factory lash adjusters (13750-70020), with a retaining groove for the clip
  • No lash to set, because they self-adjust with oil pressure
  • Low maintenance

Solid Pivot Conversion with Rocker Retainers

Best for: high-RPM race and track builds, especially 500+ hp engines running a Kelford Stage 2 solid camshaft.

  • Billet alloy steel, heat-treated
  • More precise valve control at high RPM, with no lifter pump-up or bleed-down
  • Needs a camshaft designed for solid lifters, such as Kelford S267-A or S267-B. Hydraulic cam profiles don't have the lash ramp solid lifters need and can cause valvetrain failure.
  • Not a drop-in part. It needs professional setup by a machine shop to get lash within spec.

Will solid lifters make more power?

Not on their own. They improve valve control at high RPM, which lets a properly built engine rev higher safely. Any power gain comes from the cam, tune and supporting mods.
