How do I install the SR20 kit?Updated 34 minutes ago

Before you start

We recommend soaking the hydraulic lash adjusters in clean engine oil for 30-60 minutes before installation. Do not insert any objects into the lash adjusters, as this can damage the internal one-way valve.

Rocker guides

We recommend guide shims on both sides of each rocker arm to reduce side-to-side movement.

With hydraulic lash adjusters you don't set valve lash as such, because the lifter takes up the gap once oil pressure reaches the head. Instead, make sure the guide heights are within +/- 0.025 mm of each other.

Our SR20 Valve Shim Tool helps you measure shims without cutting down a lifter. You'll also need a micrometer.

Fitting the clips

The clips drop in over your existing rocker arms and locate in the groove of the lash adjuster.

Solid lifter kit

The solid pivot conversion needs professional setup and lash adjustment by an experienced engine builder or machine shop, using a solid lifter camshaft.

Troubleshooting

A lash adjuster that stays soft or won't pump up after soaking and running is a strong sign its internal spring is damaged. Stop and email [email protected] with your order number and details.
